The Crooked Brothers release album recorded at Falcon Trails!

Last fall we at Falcon Trails played host to folk festival favourites The Crooked Brothers as they holed up in one of our cabins for the month of November to record their sophomore album "Lawrence, Where's Your Knife?". The brothers are familiar faces around the resort, as they are active members of the Falcon Trails family- Jesse runs our ski rental shop in the winter, and Matt is the jovial voice you may have heard calling out orders from our kitchen as he cooks your ridge burgers and glory wraps at our Falcon Ridge Ski Chalet Cafe. Jesse, Matt and Darwin also spent the spring hand crafting the new swiss log cabin out at High Lake (set to start renting in the summer of 2012).

This love of DIY culture that the Crooked Brothers exhibit through their work at the resort is also very apparent in the construction of their new album which was entirely recorded and produced all on their own. The album has received great reviews from media across the country, and will be released on Friday, September 23 at the West End Cultural Center in Winnipeg- surely an evening not to miss! The Brothers will be joined by Jenny Berkel and Fish and Bird, bands who have both played at Falcon Trails in the past!

Summer events are posted! We've got a season full of really exciting stuff happening here at Falcon Trails, so come on down to check it all out. Go to the event listing HERE.

This is our fourth year doing the concert series, and it has become quite popular — Imagine world class music on the shores of Falcon Lake! Our house-concert-style shows provide music-lovers with a very intimate and uniqe venue to experience independent music.

This year's series features Scott Cook from Edmonton, our friends Red Moon Road from Winnipeg, the Low Flying Planes from Edmonton, and Keri Latimer of the band Nathan, from Winnipeg. Reserve your tickets in advance by contacting the Falcon Trails Office. For guests staying at Falcon Trails Resort, ticket prices are discounted by 50%.

Spring Happenings

Thanks to the efforts of Emily and Ben, we are very excited to launch the new site!

We've had a busy spring shutting down the ski hill after another great season, going though the cabins on our annual spring cleaning and maintenece overhaul, and most excitingly, we've started a new log-cabin building project!

The cabin is being built by staff members who took the log cabin building course last spring out at High Lake (you can check out the product of that course on the shore of the lake — a new Swiss log sauna for the High Lake eco-cabins!). This build is a considerably larger undertaking than a sauna and is turning out beautifully! We are very excited to see the finished product!
